Princess Catherine first visited Aboyne in 2011, it was a just few months before her royal wedding to Prince William.  She was spotted enjoying a low-key weekend with her future in-laws at Birkhall, the Queen's residence on the Balmoral estate.  She also took the time to stop in Aboyne and visit The Black Faced Sheep & Monkey Business for some shopping.

Kate looked chic and casual in a green tweed jacket, skinny jeans, brown boots and a matching hat. She was seen walking with Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, as well as some friends and dogs. She also attended a Sunday service at Crathie Kirk, the local church where the royal family worships when in Scotland.

The visit was seen as a sign of Kate's acceptance into the royal family, as well as her love for the Scottish countryside. She returns regularly to Balmoral and Royal Deeside with her husband and children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. She has also embraced Scottish fashion, wearing tartan coats, kilts and cashmere sweaters.

Kate has come a long way since her first visit to Aboyne. She is now one of the most popular and influential members of the royal family, as well as a style icon and a patron of many charities.

Princess Catherine is a true example of how to balance tradition and modernity, as well as duty and family.
